
- Wood: Termite’s favorite foods are woods of all kinds. They eat rotting, mulch, painted, new wood etc. Termites are very fond of even wallpapers. They live in blocks between wooden items.
- Foliage: If you have foliage around your houses then your house is more prone to termites. Foliage attracts this insect. It’s advisable to keep foliage at least some inches away to your home’s foundation.
- Renovation: When your home renovation is done, make sure that all garbage are away from home. Scrap lumber stored near your house may be infested with these insects and should be burned to ensure that your home does not become infested.
- Moisture: Termites love to be in moist areas. They are fascinated to moist areas in home such as laundry rooms, soggy basements, bathrooms and leaky walls.
- Air: Moist air is the best suitable conditions for termites to grow multifold. Ventilation is very necessary to avoid moist air in your house.
- Soil: Termite loves soil most after woods. Make sure that any portion of your house is not in direct contact of soil. Because direct contact of soil to any portion of your house ensures entry of termites.

It’s a well known saying that “Prevention is better than cure” so it’s advisable to take preventive actions before your house infested from termites. There can be two options to get rid of termites. One is to Do it yourself (DIY) and second is taking services of a professional pest control service. Choice is all yours but I think professional services are always better than DIY.
